About the presentation:
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) including heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancers and their associated risk factors are now leading causes of mortality, morbidity and healthcare costs. At the same time, growing evidence shows the importance of the built environment in the risk and protective factors of NCDs. There are opportunities for improving the health of our populations, including the most vulnerable in our communities such as seniors and those impacted by inequities, through policy and environmental approaches to NCDs. Successful implementation examples from various jurisdictions will be shared as well as current opportunities.
